Just Words offers a variety of resources to help your school's creative writing program.
- Teacher Workshops
- Usually presented in 45 minutes after school, these workshops will present teachers with new ideas on how to incorporate creative writing more in their classrooms. It will inspire your staff to take a fresh look at creative writing. To schedule a teacher workshop, please use the "Contact Me" page below.
- Student Writing Workshops
- Creative Writing
- Held for an hour and half a day for three days after school, the Creative Writing workshop takes kids through a crash course in creative writing, from the inception of the idea to the final editing process. We'll go through the elements of the story before they'll write, edit and prepare their story to be sent to editors and literary magazines for publication. This workshop works best with kids in upper elementary and middle school.
- The Five-Paragraph Essay
- Focusing on expository and narrative essays, this workshop will help kids struggling with the concept of the five-paragraph essay. Held for an hour and a half for two days, the workshop focuses heavily on structure, research and writing prompts. Kids will get a crash course on how to effectively research a topic and write about it with clear and concise diction. This workshop works best for children in middle school and high school.
FOR WRITERS
Just Words offers individual writers a variety of helpful services as they pursue their writing careers.
- Critiques
- Working on the next great American novel, but need someone to look it over? Schedule some time to sit with me. We'll look over your work together and spot ways to improve the material you have, whether it's basic editing, sentence structure or plot devices.
- Copywriting
- Need an extra pair of eyes to look over a query letter, article or other piece of writing? I've had extensive experience with newsletters, newspapers and magazines and would love to help you get the kinks out of your manuscript.
- Mentoring
- Just want to bounce ideas off of someone or need help getting the creative juices flowing? I have a plethora of resources to help get over your writer's block.
